Admission Requirements
Prospective students applying to graduate programs in the UM-Dearborn College of Engineering and Computer Science must possess the following general admission criteria:
A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
Students whose Bachelor’s degree was conferred from an institution with a language of instruction other than English must also submit a TOEFL or MELAB score report.
The Graduate Records Examination (GRE) is not required, although if the cumulative grade point average is low the GRE may be considered during the review process.
Applicants who meet the general admission criteria, but who do not have adequate preparation for the common core requirements (including mathematics) may be required to complete prerequisite courses as a condition of full program admission.
Prospective students must also submit the following (Please see the application packet for further information and instructions):
- Official copies of undergraduate (bachelor degree) transcripts with the degree conferred posted
- Official transcripts of any additional coursework that the applicant would like to have considered during the review process
- A “Statement of Purpose”
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation from individuals familiar with the applicant’s academic abilities or from supervisors familiar with the applicant’s work skills
- The appropriate fee as indicated on the application
